The 4th of July is probably my favorite holiday. I love it! It's usually been filled with extended family, but this year it was just us and we still had a great day. We took the kids to the local town parade in the morning. They had fun seeing the floats and getting candy. Then we went for a hike at the Sluice Boxes State park. I can't believe we haven't been there yet. It was beautiful. We took the wrong trail for part of the time but it was a fun adventure hiking through the tall grass. Ryder did a great job on the hike.
We had a yummy BBQ at home for dinner and lit off some fireworks in the street. Then we drove to the big hill in our neighborhood to watch the cities fireworks. Only roman candles and bottle rockets are illegal here in Indiana so the whole city was lighting off big, huge fireworks. It was really fun to watch.
The kids stayed up really late but we had so much fun celebrating!
