Celebrations

Brad paid off all of his student loan debt a few months ago! It was really exciting! Our accountant sent us a gift card to a yummy steakhouse to celebrate. We finally used it tonight and it was delicious! We bought some ice cream on the way home to celebrate with the kids.

Awards/Mother's Day/Hailey's Birthday/Ryder's blessing day

We had a lot to celebrate today and it was a blast! It started out with an early award breakfast for Brad. The breakfast was delicious! Brad received an award for most improved student. His name will be posted in the library at the school on a plauqe and he received $1200! We feel very grateful and I'm proud of Brad for achieving that!
Next we had church and Brad was able to give our sweet son Ryder Ricks Hobson a blessing at church. It made it so special to have the Grandpa's and many uncles there to participate in the blessing as well. Brad gave him a great blessing and Ryder looked so handsome in his blessing outfit!
Although this weekend was mainly focused on Brad and his amazing accomplishment, it was also fun to celebrate Hailey's birthday and Mother's Day. My Bishop's wife was thoughtful enough to ask me to send her a story about my mom that she wanted to share in her talk in church that day. It was a fun surprise for my mom! Here is the story she shared for me:

"My Mom has always been really good at following the spirit. She was constantly serving my siblings and I humbly and quietly. She taught me a lot about serving others and about how to control emotions even in hard situations.

When I was in 6th grade I had a classmate with long unruly hair that was never brushed. One day a couple girls dared me to go and cut her hair. After several minutes of them taunting me to do it, I finally walked over to this girl who had her back turned to me and cut off about an inch of her hair. The other girls thought it was funny, but I was soon in the most trouble I had ever been in in my life. I ended up being suspended from school for a day and when I went home to talk to my mom about it I surprisingly did not receive the lashing I expected and deserved. She was patient and calm with me and didn’t say much, but I knew she was extremely disappointed in me.  I learned two very important lessons that day, 1. That I never wanted to do anything in my life ever again that would disappoint my Mother so much, and 2. That my mother is a saint! I know she listened closely to the spirit that day about how to appropriately handle that situation so that it would have the most impact on my young life for the better.

I’m so grateful to have been raised by such a sweet, kind, loving, patient, humble mother. She taught me how to serve, she taught me how to love, she taught me the importance of staying close to my Savior. I love her so much!"
My mom truly is amazing and I'm glad I was able to share that with her that day. It's been a long time since I've been able to be with her on Mother's day and so it made it extra special.
My amazing sister and sister-in-laws are pretty awesome examples to me of great moms as well. I learn so much just by watching them all the time. And my mother-in-law has left me a legacy that I'm sure I can never attain. She loved her role as a homemaker and mother and she excelled at it. I hope to have the relationship with my children that she formed with hers. Mother's are the best. We as mothers and women have the power to do so much good by raising good, strong children and making are home a safe haven. I'm lucky to be a mother and to be a homemaker. I'm so lucky to have 3 wonderful, amazing, happy kids. They make my life great!

Love this quote:
"One cannot forget mother and remember God. One cannot remember mother and forget God. Why? Because these two sacred persons, God and mother, partners in creation, in love, in sacrifice, in service, are as one." -Thomas S. Monson

Dental School Graduation!

Today was the day we've been looking forward to for 4 long years. Graduation day! It was one of the best days ever and it made it even better to have so much amazing family here to celebrate this with us. We started it all of with a tour of Brad's dental school and refreshments there. Then we had a yummy dinner at Weber Grill, then we went to graduation. It was so fun to see him walk in with his cap and gown on and realize how official this really is! I couldn't help but cry with excitement that this is all over and with sadness that this chapter in our lives is done. Lots of mixed emotions!
I couldn't be more proud of Brad for going after his dreams regardless of how many obstacles he had to overcome. He bettered himself every step of the way so that he could achieve his goal and he has truly inspired me! I love him more than I can express and am so grateful to be his wife.
Congratulations, Dr. Bradley Hobson, on all of your hard work!

P.S. Kade is loving calling Brad a Dr. now. He calls him "Dr. Dad," or "Dr. Hobson" all the time. It is adorable!

Class Party

Tonight Brad and I went to his class graduation party downtown. My sweet friend Becca watched my kids for me, even Ryder who ended up being pretty good for her!
We had a blast celebrating! Dinner was delicious and then we danced, played pool, snacked a lot by the chocolate fountain, sat on the roof and enjoyed the beautiful city view, and took lots of pictures in the photo booth. It was a magical night and it was so much fun to celebrate the fact that Brad is done with dental school! We couldn't be happier and I couldn't be more proud of him!!

My kids, The Hirschis, Tucanos

Today I got my kids dressed up cute because I knew we'd be heading out for lunch with Brad and I had to take a picture of them. They looked so cute altogether! I'm so grateful for them and that I get to be their mom! Being a stay at home Mom is the best job I could ask for. I love it so much. I love teaching them, playing with them, and even grocery shopping with them. They give my life extra spunk!

Today, Brad left school early which he's actually been able to do a lot lately. This has been the best semester of Dental school by far! He has so much free time and hardly any stress. We are really enjoying all the family time! Life is pretty great right now!
Anyway, Brad came home early today so we could go out to eat at Tucanos with our great friends the Hirschis. Ryan and Brad are in the same class in school and they both have March birthdays so they both got a free meal at Tucanos! It was delicious and so much fun to celebrate birthdays, passing boards, and being done with dental school with friends. I can't believe it's all coming to an end!
