St. Louis City Museum

We got an early start this morning so we could see the Gateway arch before heading to the City Museum. The kids tried to recreate a picture Brad had done when he was here with his family over 20 years ago.

We got to the city museum just as it opened and spent two hours together exploring everything. The slides were so fun! The huge organ in the cave room sounded so cool. And the outside park was a lot of fun to explore as well. Most of us got tired after a few hours but Luke never stopped exploring until we made him. He had a blast following every maze and trail he could find.

After the city museum we made our way back to Chicago. We fly home tomorrow! It’s been a great trip! We had Chicago deep dish pizza tonight and the kids all said that Cedar Point was their favorite part of the trip. I think it was mine too even though I’m not the biggest fan of roller coaster rides. I’m grateful for all the good memories we made together!

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

We went to the Children’s Museum that Kade, Tenley and I frequented so many times over our four years of living there. It was so weird to be back after being gone for so long. It was very nostalgic. Kade and Tenley even remembered some things about it. Some things are definitely different though. They added a huge sports section which was actually our favorite part. It was kind of sad to see how much our family has outgrown the museum. We just really don’t have that little of kids anymore. But we all enjoyed the sports park. There was a treehouse, mini golf, tennis, soccer, football, and basketball. We played several rounds of lightning together on the basketball court. Luke and I played some tennis together and we all mini golfed together. It’s such a great addition to the museum.

We’re on our way to St. Louis now for our last adventure of the trip! We stopped at a delicious Thai restaurant in Terra Haute for dinner. Our waitress was so sweet and had fun with Luke talking about fish and pets because Luke couldn’t stop staring at all the fish in their aquarium. It was a good stop.

Memories in Indianapolis

We made it to Indianapolis today and it definitely brought back a lot of memories. The dental school looks the same and our old house looks the same as well. It was crazy to be back and to feel the humidity! The kids were very hot even though it was only 75 degrees today. We went to the zoo and the kids, especially Luke, loved it. We saw the ocean exhibit and then the dolphin show. I thought I remember there being more tricks at the dolphin show, but we still enjoyed it.

At the bird exhibit the kids fed the birds and even had them perched on their arms eating out of their hands! We also got to pet kangaroos.

It was jazz night at the zoo so we even got to hear some live jazz bands.

After the zoo we drove by our old house. It looks the same but it’s missing all the people we loved when we lived there. It was so weird to see it again.

We got some swimming in before bed and now we’re all pretty tired! Hopefully we feel more energized tomorrow.
