It was nice to sleep in on this cold icy day for all of us, except Brad. He got up early to go and help with a service project. He's such good guy :) Ryder seemed to miss him all morning and right when he got home Ryder just wanted to be held by him. It was sweet.
This afternoon Kade, Tenley and I went to the Aquatic Center for their friend Tanner's birthday party. They had a blast being able to swim and I loved hanging out in the warm sauna-like pool area. That's the warmest I've felt in a while!
When we got home Tenley helped me make potato soup for dinner. She was hoping it would help Ryder feel better because it always makes her feel better when she's not feeling well. I hope it helps too!
Then we wanted to eat popcorn and watch a Christmas movie but we had a hard time deciding on which one. We all had different favorites or different opinions. Tenley wanted to watch the real Grinch, Kade wanted to watch Home Alone, I wanted to watch Elf, and Brad just wanted to watch a new Christmas movie that we hadn't seen. Kade came up with the idea to put all of our suggestions in a hat and have Tenley choose one randomly. Kade cut up the papers and wrote the suggestions on them, and Tenley put them into Kade's baseball cap. At first Tenley chose Dad's option, but he decided to pass, then she chose my option, Elf, and even though I really love that movie and would have loved to watch it, I really hate winning like that when I can see that my kids are sad about it. I'm too sensitive I guess. So we decided the choice would be between Tenley and Kade. Tenley then chose Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. She was really excited that her choice won. And luckily Kade had a really good attitude about it and was happy to watch it as well.
Ryder really enjoyed the movie. The Grinch is hilarious and had all the kids laughing. It was fun to cuddle on the couch with blankets and watch a movie with the kids. Christmas time is so great.
