Several weeks ago while at Target (a store that is filled with too many cute things to count!) I found this adorable quote box filled with a new quote for every day of the year. I couldn't resist buying it and it has become my favorite thing in my bathroom! I love changing the quote every day to find a new piece of wise advice. Quite often they are exactly what I need to hear! Today's quote was: "Achievement is not about what you've done, but what you've gained from your experience."
I just finished writing 5 children's songs and 5 hymns to submit to the Church for their new hymnal and new Children's songbook. I've been working on them for the past six months. When I first heard that they were accepting new songs I hadn't planned on submitting anything. I didn't have anything to submit and I don't have a lot of experience with writing lyrics. But then an amazing person contacted me to collaborate. He writes beautiful lyrics and I was able to write some music for some of his song texts. It was such a fun process! I learned so much from him and I was so grateful for the opportunity. It really ignited my passion for composing again and I'm so excited to get to work on new projects and new goals now that I have finished.
But yesterday for one tiny second I wondered if anything would ever even come from any of the songs. And then I read this quote and realized that I have gained so much from the experience that no matter what happens, I have achieved something :).
The kids finished their swim lessons today! I think they'll be sad next week when we don't go swimming. They have loved it!
