We had a great family night together. We watched the First Presidency Christmas devotional together. Brad had made homemade vanilla ice cream for dessert and he told the kids that they’d only get some if they could answer a question about the devotional when it was over. Kade was pretty nervous that he’d get it wrong. He asked Ryder what the little girl in Elder Oaks story wanted for Christmas. Ryder said a Barbie which we decided was close enough to a doll. He asked Tenley what Elder Oaks said the first gift of Christmas was and who gave it. She said it was Jesus given to us from Heavenly Father. He asked Kade what song the choir sang to end the meeting and he remembered it was Silent Night. And then he asked me who the conductor was and I knew it was Ryan Murphy. Phew! We all passed the test and got homemade ice cream! Haha. I'm not sure I could have really followed through on not giving them ice cream if they had answered incorrectly, but luckily we don’t have to find out!
