Beyond the Dam

Last night while Brad and I were watching the news we heard about Beyond the Dam which is a bike race and family walk/stroll where you can cross the Black Eagle Dam which is normally closed to pedestrians. We decided to join the fun today! We would have loved to do the intermediate bike race, but we'll have to do that someday when our kids are older. Actually, Brad will probably do it next year.
Today we just did the almost four mile walk with our kids in the stroller. Tenley walked a mile of it and even kept up with Brad's fast pace, but then she joined the little boys in the stroller. It was hot today but it was so fun to get out for a long walk and to see something new. It was really cool to cross the Dam. When we got back to the park where the race had started they had free lunch for us and they gave all the kids under 13 years old medals for participating! Tenley and Ryder felt really special about that. It was a great morning. I love our little town and all the awesome biking/walking trails we have.
