Sisters, Changed

I had the honor of going with June's daughters and daughter-in-laws to dress her for the funeral. I was nervous and scared and didn't know what to expect, but it was the most amazingly spiritual experience that I've ever had. I'm so grateful that I had that opportunity to serve my mother-in-law in that way with my sisters and to be able to bond with them. I feel so much closer to each one of them now and I'm grateful for the deeper relationships that have formed.
A mother is truly the glue that binds a family, but I know that we as sisters will try and hold the whole family together as well as June did.

It's amazing how much you learn about someone when they have passed on. June was truly a saint. She cared about and showed as much love as she could to everyone she knew. She made everyone feel so special and she never demanded or asked for anything in return. She served selflessly and she knew how to love others effortlessly. She knew she was a woman of God and she never let worldly things distract her. She loved her kids and gave all 8 of them the individual attention they needed. She loved being a grandma and did what she could to support and love all 28 of them even from huge distances. She lived a righteous life and is such an example to me.
I love the song,"For Good" from Wicked. Up until now I've only thought about one person when I hear it (you know who you are!), but now after knowing and having to lose my mother-in-law I can definitely say that June has changed me for the better.
