Holiday Spirit, Carving Pumpkins

For the first time ever, Kade is loving Halloween and really wanting to get involved in every tradition he hears about. He has been asking me to decorate the house and last night he asked if we could cut faces into pumpkins. I feel like a very un-festive mom!
So, in order to try and make my son think I'm cool we did a little bit of decorating and we went and bought pumpkins so we could carve them together when Brad got home. It was actually really fun to get into the spirit of Halloween with my kids and see their excitement. Tomorrow should be a really fun day!
Kade made these spiders at preschool today and wanted to hang it in our living room.

I thought it was funny that they both folded their arms for this picture. I didn't ask them to do that!

Brad got so serious about carving the pumpkins that he had to get out his drill!

Kade wanted a spooky face pumpkin and Tenley (like most girls) chose the hardest design she could find-Minnie Mouse! I thought Brad did such an awesome job! He is such an artist. Mine would have looked like a 2 year old did them!

Simple Things

Thank you to our sweet Elders for sharing such a wonderful video with us tonight.

Things are so much easier to do when they are simple and you can try just a little bit harder every day. That is the way service and missionary work should be. I want it to become a habitual part of my life so that everyday I'm reaching out to others in some small and simple way.

Family Pictures, Back Roads, Primary Songs

This morning as I was cleaning the kids were playing in the living room quietly and when I walked in I saw that they were looking at a family picture and Kade was pointing out all of the cousins to Tenley. It was so sweet and so cute!
We'd all cringe whenever Brad's mom would request to make a time to have family pictures done during a reunion. It was always torture for the kids and therefore the adults as well, but I treasure those pictures now!

We went to the grocery store today and I felt like taking the back roads there so we could enjoy the beautiful fall day. It was gorgeous and we even saw a deer cross the road!

For family home evening tonight we sang all of Kade's primary songs that he'll be singing in his primary program. It was cute to see Kade and Tenley huddled up with Brad listening to and singing the songs. I love my little family!
I'm so excited for the primary program this year. It will be Kade's first one and I'll probably be a crying mess! But I can't wait.

Crafts, My Husband, Hummel Park, James and Michelle

This morning I had fun doing a bunch of crafts with a lot of fun women from my ward. We had a yummy lunch, made crafts, talked a lot, and we even did some karaoke! It was a blast!
While I was gone at my "girl party," as the kids call it, Brad was so willing and helpful to watch Kade and Tenley. I'm SO grateful for his support.
When I got home we went to Kade's favorite park, Hummel Park to play. Brad is so good and running around and playing like a kid!

Then we got to go to Steak 'N Shake for dinner thanks to our most awesome friends James and Michelle! They were so sweet and sent us a gift card. I love them so much! Michelle was my roommate in college and James was Brad's roommate in college and then after we both got married they were our favorite couple to hang out with until we had to move away. We did everything together; sporting events, camping, birthday dinners to Red Robin, camping, and more. I got carried away with all our fun memories tonight. We love you guys!
We love getting together with them when we are back in Utah visiting. Kade loves his friend Jimmer and even called him his cousin tonight!

Brown County, Trunk or Treating

Both of Brad's patients canceled on him today so we decided to drive down to Brown County hoping to avoid a crowd. I was glad the sun was shining even though it was pretty cold! And there weren't too many people there.
We had a nice picnic, ran around on the grass, and went for a hike around a lake. We had a lot of fun.

Kade wanted to throw this huge stick in the lake. I was surprised he could carry it!

Tonight was our ward Trunk or Treat at the church. It was fun to dress Kade up as Spiderman, but it was really fun to dress Tenley up as a princess! I was surprised at how willing she was to let me do her hair and even some make-up. Maybe I should consider doing toddler beauty pageants with her! Haha.
I loved getting her all dolled up! But I really need to find a princess crown for her!
