Family Getaways, Coeur d'Alene

This is the first time that Brad hasn't had Sping break off and it was sad, but luckily he had a long weekend so we made a quick trip up to Coeur d'Alene to go hiking and swimming. We had a lot of fun today hiking. The weather was perfect for it. We came across 5 deer! It was really cool. And it was so nice to be in the mountains. I miss my Utah mountains, but hiking in all the pine trees here helped. This whole city smells like pine trees!
Then Tenley and I went and did some shopping for her at Target which is always fun. We went out to eat and then ended the day swimming at the hotel. I love family getaways!

Open Gym, Basketballs

Today we went to the gymnastics place in town for their open gym and luckily hardly anyone was there so the kids had a lot more fun running around everywhere and trying everything. Emmett got to come with us which made it a lot more fun for Kade. Later today Kade got his basketball in the mail that he had ordered. He was so excited! He had played basketball at his friends house the other day and was then begging for his own ball. After our picnic dinner that Kade requested (he's feeling pretty special since it's his spring break), we had fun playing basketball with him. He's pretty good! He made six shots in a row! I was impressed. We are loving this spring weather.

Parks, New Piano Music

Kade had a play date with his bff all day today. He was in heaven. Tenley, Ryder and I met some friends at a new park and played in the sunshine. Tenley and Ryder are becoming closer with all this time they get together as just the two of them which is good.
I finally got some new piano sheet music in the mail that I ordered a while ago and I was able to play it for a bit this afternoon. I love it!

The Library

We had another fun spring break day! We met Heidi and Emmett at the library and played and Kade found a lot of books to check out. He LOVES books! And he was adamant that we go to the library during his spring break to get him some new ones. Every free moment he's had today he's been reading them. He also got to go have a play date with a friend so Tenley and I had fun together reading her books and eating ice cream.

Swimming

I am so excited for this spring break week! It will be nice not to be in a rush in the morning and to have Kade with us all the time. We started this fun week off by going swimming at the aquatic center. We all had a blast! Then we picked up pizza and came home to watch The Muppets (Tenley's pick). So much fun :)

A Relaxing, Uplifting Sunday

It was really nice to sleep in today, have a yummy breakfast of pancake and eggs, and watch the morning session of conference in our pajamas. The weather was nice again so the kids spent a lot of time outside but they actually sat on the couch when President Monson spoke. Kade didn't want to miss it. It was sweet.
Conference weekend was great. I loved it and I'm excited to re-read and study the talks. I'm truly grateful to have a modern day prophet and apostles of the Lord on the Earth today that have devoted their lives to Christ to teach, lead, and guide us. We're so lucky to have that.
After Conference we went and had dinner with the Simmons, enjoyed being outside, and enjoyed being with family.

Family Walks, Wildflowers, Sunsets, General Conference Weekend

Today was a great day. I just love Spring! With weather like today it makes everything seem wonderful. The cool breeze in the morning, the sunshine all day, the flowers and trees blooming, and the beautiful evenings have made me want to live outside. The kids have been jumping on the tramp and playing outside pretty much non stop. Kade has gotten really good at front flips! We went for a family walk too and took the more adventurous route through the dirt. It had a pretty view, lots of wild flowers that Tenley didn't want to stop picking, and even cactus! And we enjoyed watching General Conference today. It was so uplifting. And the choir sang my favorite song "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" right after an amazing talk by Elder Dale G. Renlund. Those were my favorites today.
Kade was lucky enough to go to a birthday party this afternoon as well. I had hard time getting Tenley and Kade inside for a bath. They were loving being outside. But since we were slow movers we got to see the beautiful sunset.
Today was such a good day that Kade had a hard time picking out his favorite thing of the day. He just said the whole day was his favorite. I'm glad he's happy with such simple things!

Talent Shows, April Fools

To kick off Spring Break Kade's school had a school wide talent show. Brad, Tenley, Ryder and I got to go and watch. Kade's kindergarten class dressed up like bees with glow in the dark tape and danced to a bee song. It was really cute!
Today is a special day in our house as well because it's April Fools Day! Brad loves to play tricks and the kids love to be tricked. And the kids had a few ideas of their own for Brad as well. Some of the best tricks were, topical anisthetic on their water bottles that numbed their lips when they got a drink, yellow milk in their cereal, toilet paper in the toilet with the words 'I see you!' on it, napkins in their shoes, spiders in the lamp shade, upside down cups on the table filled with water, and a giant popcile for dessert!
The kids gave Brad an Oreo with toothpaste in it, put tape on the bottom of the computer mouse so it wouldn't work, and gave him brown paper shaped like the letter E for a "brownie" dessert.
