We had to cross the river a few times and shuffle through a tunnel but that wasn’t all that bad. It got worse when we came to a steep hill with loose dirt that we had to climb up. Kade went first and did fine, Tenley had Keena on a leash and ended up slipping and scraping her leg up pretty badly. She was screaming and crying and said that she just wanted to go home! This scared Ryder and when he started slipping he lost it because he worried he’d get hurt like Tenley. It took me a few minutes to calm him down and to get him to keep going but he finally did and slowly but surely he climbed his way to the top. And I, in my sandals with Luke in my arms, made it to the top as well.
We found some shade and talked about our little adventure. Tenley learned that she doesn’t need to scream so loudly. And Ryder learned that when things get hard you just need to “keep trying, keep trying, keep trying.” He also said that we shouldn’t ever go hiking without Dad again! Haha.
