Luke’s Birthday Eve

Luke’s birthday falls on a Wednesday this year which is mutual night so we took him out for dinner tonight instead. Without hesitation he chose to eat at Chilis. I guess we should at least be grateful that it wasn’t McDonald’s! But it was a good dinner and he ate it all. I didn’t count how many times he reminded us all that it’s his birthday tomorrow but he said it a lot! I hope his day lives up to his expectations!

Art for Kids Hub

The countdown is on for Luke’s birthday! Honestly it’s been on since May 1st. He is SO excited! My favorite thing he does lately is ask to draw. I love his focused expression as he draws his pictures. It’s adorable and he does a better job than I could do! The three youngest were all drawing pictures together today. It’s one of the best activities they do together!

Mother’s Day

I had such a wonderful Mother's Day! At church after sacrament meeting all the young women and older women had a lesson together and ate yummy fruit parfaits. It was fun to sit with Tenley! We went for a walk as a family this afternoon to enjoy the sunshine but before that Brad and the kids were up to some shenanigans! I had no idea what they were doing until I opened my gifts. They were all so sweet! Ryder drew me a picture, Tenley made me a bracelet and a keychain. Kade made me a card with a coupon for a car cleaning and then he pulled out a gift that brought me to tears! When he was in kindergarten his kindergarten teacher had the kids make frames for their moms and then put their picture in it with a statement about why they love their mom. Kade had said, "I love you because...you kiss me before bed." I've had that frame in my bathroom ever since. Well they decided to recreate it for me! And everyone joined in! It was seriously the sweetest thing! Kade said, "I love you because...you read scriptures with me." Tenley said, "I love you because...you are an amazing cook." Ryder said, "I love you because...you practice the piano with me." And Luke said, "I love you because...you give me hugs." It's definitely my favorite gift ever!! Major props to Brad for pulling it off!

I also got to talk to my beautiful mom tonight. And I've thought a lot about other women and mothers who are such wonderful example to me. It was a great day!

Recitals, Soccer Games, and Friends

It was quite the busy Saturday today! Kade had two soccer games, the kids all had a piano recital and Tenley also played her flute, we went to a friend’s wedding reception and Kade had fun hanging out with his friends tonight. We're still sleep deprived from watching the northern lights last night too but it was worth it!

The kids all played so well! They chose movie themes to play so it was a fun and light piano recital. Tenley did well on her flute songs as well and even played a flute trio.

Kade’s soccer games were fun! It was so warm today so we enjoyed watching his game. He mainly played forward and he had a lot of good crosses and assists for goals. They won the afternoon game!

Then we had fun with friends tonight celebrating their daughter’s wedding. It was a long eventful day, but lots of fun!

The Northern Lights

We enjoyed warm weather and sunny skies today and then tonight we got to see the northern lights! We've never seen them this well and it was amazing! We kept the kids out late and drove far out of town and enjoyed the beautiful lights. And when we came home we could even see them in our backyard! It was incredible.

Co op

Today was our last day of co op for the year. We are sad it’s over! It was such a good year and we made some great friends! I had so much fun teaching science with Ashley and Justina and I really loved getting to know the kids. We’re excited for summer but we will miss these amazing people!

Conversations with Luke

Brad had a fun conversation with Luke at the dinner table tonight. I can’t remember how they got in the subject, but Luke wanted to steal the x-box, or steal some money to buy his own. Brad told him that stealing is bad and he needs to be good. Luke said, "Then I'll get a job to get money."

Brad said, "No one will hire you unless you're good.”

Luke, "Oh, I'll be good when I'm probably like, 10! or something."

Brad, "How about you be good when you're 6?"

Luke, "Hahahahaha, that's not going to happen!"

Oh my word our little Luke is trouble!! He is always making us laugh.

Also, Ryder got to have a hot tub party with his friends tonight for a church activity. He had so much fun!

Poppers

Ryder and Luke are always so excited when we get a package in the mail especially if there are poppers inside. They love to pop them! Brad came home from work today with a bunch of poppers just for them! They quickly popped them all with their bootys! They are funny boys.

Peaceful Moments

I walked out of my room this afternoon to find kids reading books on the couch and Tenley practicing the piano! It was the sweetest moment to see because I don’t see it that often! It was the best.

Restful Sundays

Restful Sundays are so nice! Beside early morning church it was a very restful Sunday. We did get out for a little walk with the kids after dinner which was nice, but other than that we rested!

Travel Soccer

We all traveled to Helena as a family today to cheer Kade on in his soccer games. It was fun to have a day trip together! It feels like it’s been a while. And the weather was perfect for it. Ryder got to play catch with Brad which he loves. Kade had a lot of time on the field as forward and a little bit as keeper. It’s really fun to watch him in the field. He seems happy which is great. He has great friends on the team which makes this all so fun.

Adventurous Walks

We had a lot going on today, so much that we couldn’t even make it to everything which made me so sad. Our co op had an end of year/wax museum night. The kids had prepared speeches and costumes for it. They also had art and science projects on display. But our ward also had a party and with Brad’s current calling we definitely feel the need to be at those things more than we used to. So we went to the ward party. I did help set up for the co op party so I got some pictures of the things we missed. And the ward party went well. We had a great turn out! And there was a piñata for the kids which they loved.

When we made it home we went for a walk to enjoy the sun set. We went a different route I had never been on through the field and by the horses. It was an adventure! Luke walked most of the two miles of it all by himself! He was pretty exhausted when he got home.

Friends with Basketball Hoops

I love our house. I really do. And I love our neighbors. But one thing I really wish we had is a basketball hoop in the front yard. Our driveway is pretty slanted so Brad has been looking into putting a hoop on the street. When his hygienist heard him talking about it she said our kids could go play on her hoop anytime. The kids have taken her up on the offer three times already! Good think she lives just down the street!

My Dad

Happy birthday to my Dad today! I will always be so grateful for a dad who took me on fun adventures, taught me how to play volleyball, wakeboard, and ski, always had me cheering for the Jazz, and gave the best words of advice. Love you, Dad!
