Our Little Luke

Our baby arrived early this morning at 4:50 AM. He is perfect and we love him so much! We debated a lot on his name, consulted with the kids, and even flipped a coin when we had it narrowed down to two! We finally decided on Luke Duane Hobson. Luke is what we've been calling him this whole time and it really seemed to fit. His middle name is my dad's name, a great man for him to emulate and be named after! He has been very sleepy and mild tempered.
The labor and delivery went pretty well. I had seen my doctor Monday afternoon and started having contractions at 5 pm that night. I made dinner through them, Brad rushed home to mow the lawn, we had our family night lesson and even watched a movie with the kids, but right after putting them to bed we left for the hospital because the contractions were pretty intense and close together and I did not want to have a repeat of Ryder's delivery. I really tried to be tough and breathe through the contractions this time. Brad was a really good support for me. I literally leaned on him to get through the pain and it helped so much. An hour after I was admitted I was able to get an epidural and things were a lot more easy going from then on. The doctor broke my water at 4 am and we were holding Luke at 4:50! He is precious. So, so precious.
Brad and I didn't get much sleep and he left around 7 to get the kids to school and was able to get a little nap in with Ryder at home. Luke and I tried to rest as much as possible at the hospital, but that's hard to do with people coming in and out to check up on us all the time.
Brad checked Kade and Tenley out of school early and came to the hospital with all the kids so they could meet Luke. They were so excited! And they were sooo cute with him. Ryder kept saying "Awww!" And he'd pat my belly and say "He's out! Thank you, mom!" He has seriously thanked me four or five times for having Luke. I love that he loves him so much. The kids kept fighting over who got to hold him next.
They got to help give him a bath and they got bracelets that say 'big brother' and 'big sister'. Ryder and Tenley haven't taken them off since.
It was sad to have to say goodbye to my older three kids and Brad tonight. Ryder cried. He always gets me when he says, "But I love you mom! I want you to come home with us!" I can't wait to all be home together!
