Kathi Mann

This morning I was able to go to the funeral service for this wonderful woman, Kathi Mann. It was about a year ago that I met her and she has touched my life in many ways and is a great example to me. One of the speakers summed up who she was best when he said that every time he would go to visit Kathi and try to ask her how she was doing she was quick to want to talk about them and not her. She was always that way. Always concerned for everyone else. Even when I went to visit her in the hospital a few months ago she just wanted to know how my family and I were doing, even though her situation required much more attention!
I love this dear woman so much. I'm so grateful that I was able to get to know her. I'm so grateful that my friends and I were able to go and sing to her last week. I'm so grateful for her faith.
Our Bishop said that the night she passed away he had gone to visit her earlier in the evening and she looked him in the eyes and with the last bit of strength she had said, "Bishop, I'm going to be alright." And I know she is. I'm grateful she is no longer in pain, but her sweet family and friends will all miss her dearly. She is a truly special woman and a one of a kind.
Katherine "Kathi" Mann, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away December 14, 2013. She was born July 3, 1946 in Tacoma, Virginia to the late William and Juanita Gilbert.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling and fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital with her quilting group. She worked as a RN for Beech Grove OB/GYN before retiring in 2001. Kathi was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Program at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
