We've been planning a quick getaway trip to Lousivlle for this weekend for a while, but with Kade super sick we almost canceled it. Luckily though he woke up feeling much more like himself today so we took off anyway! We went swimming all afternoon and out to a yummy pizza buffet restaurant for dinner. It's been such a needed break!

Birthdays
Brad and my sweet kids did a great job making my birthday special today even though Kade ended up being really sick. I got to sleep in and woke up to a yummy french toast breakfast. Then we had to head to the doctor to get Kade checked out. Unfortunately we found out he has pneumonia but luckily he did not have to stay at the hospital. They sent us home with medicine and he seems to be getting better. Then Brad made one of my favorite meals for dinner, potatoe cheese soup in bread bowls and a yummy ice cream pie for dessert. It was delicious and I was grateful for all of his hardwork and for the extra time I had to cuddle with my sweet kids.
Seeing Kade so sick is heartbreaking. I hate seeing him in pain and discomfort but he tried so hard to put on a happy face for me all day. He is the sweetest little boy and I'm so grateful he is our son.
Tenley was also a sweetheart. She helped Brad make breakfast and dinner for me. I have the best kids and husband!

50 Degree Weather!
We loved the beautiful weather today! We had the windows rolled down on the way home from the doctor, talked to some neighbors we haven't seen in a while, and threw rocks in the river. We can't wait for spring!

Holidays, Puzzles
With the holiday today a lot of the museums in downtown Indy were either free or you just needed to bring a can of good to enter. We took advantage and went to a few and even watched a cool video about lemurs on the IMAX screen.
A while ago Brad bought this awesome puzzle to do with the kids and they have loved working on it with him!

Indepdendence
We've been preparing the kids for a new little brother by trying to help them learn to be as independent as possible. They can go to the bathroom by themselves, dress themselves, make their beds, and put clean clothes in their drawers now. Although they don't do these things every day, we at least know it's possible!
Today Brad decided to teach Kade how to make himself lunch all by himself. Surprisingly Kade did an awesome job making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (even getting all the items out of the cupboard and refrigerator). I was happy he added some yummy fruit to his plate as well! Now hopefully he'll be willing to make lunch for Tenley too sometimes!
I'm so proud of Kade and the big helper he has been. I know he and Tenley both are so excited for their little brother to come and I know they will both be big helpers! I love these little munchkins soooo much!

Gymnastics
We met friends at a gymanstics gym to play today and had a blast. I was excited to be able to take them there before baby #3 arrives. We have a few other places we'd like to go too before he gets here. Hopefully we have time!

Pocket Genius Books
My parents gave my kids these super cute pocket genius books for Christmas. Kade's is all about sharks and Tenley's is all about horses. They love them! The books kept them entertained at the Dr.'s office all day and when we came home they cozy-ed up on the coach to read them some more!

Shape Pancakes, Wild Memories Memories
Brad was sweet enough to make the kids shape pancakes this morning and they love them! They were delicious!
We've had a few crazy/scary experiences happen here at our complex lately and I'm hoping one day we'll be able to look back and laugh at our crazy living situation that we've had here through dental school. We've known since we've moved in to the complex that we don't live in the nicest area of town and that some of the people that live here aren't the greatest citizens of Indianapolis. We've seen some domestic disputes, hit and runs, and slashed tires, but what we witnessed last night tops them all. Around midnight we notice around 4 cop cars and cops outside our front door with a spotlight on one of the townhouses just across the street from us. They were using a loud speaker and asking someone to come out of the house with their hands up. They were also carrying guns and were ready for any kind of fight with this man they were trying to take into custody. After a few hours of this and no response from the man inside the SWAT team showed up with more cops. There were probably around 20 cops all geared up with helmets, vests, and guns. They told the man they had a search warrant and if he didn't come out, they were coming in. Then the door finally opened and 3 young men walked out the door. The police took them all into custody and the SWAT team went and searched the house and then pretty soon it was over. I don't know what that man was wanted for but it must have been something bad! I was grateful there wasn't a gun fight and that the police were able to take him into custody. I hope we never experience anything crazier than that while we are here for 4 more months!

Friends
We got to have a little play date today with some good friends! I love how well all the kids get a long and I LOVE seeing Tenley dote on babies so well. She is going to be such a great helper when the baby comes!

Hair, Blankets
Today Tenley and I got to get our hair done by my sweet friend Holly and Kade got play with his friend Clair. It's so nice to be able to go to Holly's house with my kids and get my hair done while the kids just have fun playing. And Tenley was a good sport about getting a little haircut today.
This afternoon Brad called and his truck wouldn't start to get him home from school. I figured it must have been the ridiculously freezing temperatures we've had here, but I think it was something else. Anyway, I bundled up the kids so we could go and save Brad, but halfway there he had fixed the problem and started it up! The kids had fun getting all bundled up and snuggling with some big blankets in the car though! Luckily we didn't get stranded anywhere!

Snow
The kids were so excited to get some snow and to try out their new sled! Brad was sweet enough to play outside with them for a few hours and they were in heaven!

Grandma Hobson
Today was my Mother-in-Law's birthday and since she isn't with us to celebrate anymore, we did what we could to celebrate her life without her. For dinner we had what reminded Brad of her the most, fajitas. Tomorrow we'll have soup and bread because that's what dinner reminds me of her the most. The kids got balloons for her and sent them up to "heaven" in the sky. They each told a little fond memory of her as well. Kade talked about how he loved her being at the canal for Daddy's canoe race. Tenley talked about how she loves her blankets from Grandma Hobson and her pretty doll that she gets to play with and dress up every Sunday. It was sweet, but so sad to see Tenley's memory of her fading so quickly. I hope a yearly tradition like this will help keep her memory alive!

Idaho Men
Brad got creative with Kade today and they made cool little guns out of clothes pins and Popsicle sticks and used matches as bullets. It got crazy when Brad decided to light the matches before Kade shot them. Oh boys.... He also taught Kade how to shoot a BB gun! Yikes. It's a good thing school starts again next week or there might be some crazy incidents with these two!

New Years Eve
Celebrating New Years Eve this year was fun, especially with the excitement of the kids. We pretended it was midnight at 8 pm so the kids could still get to bed at a decent time and luckily I don't think they caught on.
I'm excited for this new year of 2015! As Brad said, it is the year of great anticipation! The year he graduates from Dental School and starts a real job for the first time in our marriage. We are very excited for all the changes coming, especially for our new little boy to join us next month!

Fun Dates
My sister in law was nice enough to not only watch our kids for the evening but take them out to buy a new toy. They had so much fun with her and their cousins!
Brad and I enjoyed our date trying out a new restaurant, Buona Beef (wish they had it in Indy!) seeing a movie, and enjoying some delicious ice cream at Oberweiss creamery.

Family Home Evening Treasure Hunts
We traveled up to Chicago to be with family for the new year and have been having a blast. The kids especially enjoyed a scripture treasure hunt tonight with donuts as the treasure!
