Policemen

If I was 17 again I probably wouldn't be posting about being grateful for policemen. I wasn't very good at going the speed limit and my friends and I liked to go 4-wheeling where, apparently, you aren't supposed to 4-wheel. There was one situation where I got pulled over by 5 cop cars because of where we had decided to go 4-wheeling. I guess they thought we were going to meet someone for a drug deal. Really crazy!
Anyway, this is all beside the point. Today I am truly grateful for policemen who will risk their lives to protect, serve, and save others. And for their amazing families who support them in doing that.
Today, on my way home from the Children's Museum with my kids, I was listening to the radio and heard them say that IUPUI (the place where my husband attends dental school) was on lock-down because policeman were searching for a reported gunman. You can see the full story here.
I was scared! I hadn't heard from Brad, so I texted him and luckily he responded quickly! He was fine, but was locked up in his lab. The police (and there were probably around 60 or 70 cop cars that were there) searched the whole campus before finally saying it was safe for everyone.
I was so happy when Brad finally made it home!
The kids and I did have fun at the museum, though. Although it was extremely crowded today. Here are some fun pictures!

We keep wiping her out. Soon she won't want to fall asleep anywhere but the car!

Routine

As much as I miss having Brad home with us, I do really like being back in our routine. Whenever we get out of a routine I always allow myself to be lazier than I should be and then chores pile up and I end up feeling overwhelmed  so I'm excited to get back on track this week!
Kade went to preschool this morning and Tenley came grocery shopping with me. It was nice to go out with just my little miss. We had a fun time shopping.
I cut off Tenley's mullet today! I'm kind of regretting that decision but I guess I can't do anything about it now!
After naps the kids spent a lot of time making funny faces at me and then they helped me make dinner. Brad didn't get home until 5:30 which is so rare! I can't remember the last time he has been home that late. We missed him!
And hopefully I'll be able to get out of bed at 6:00 am tomorrow to go running with my friends! I am in need of a good run!

Musical Numbers and Primary Talks

Today in Sacrament Meeting this cute woman from our ward sang a song with her father and brother. It was such a beautiful arrangement of the hymns "Where Can I Turn for Peace," "Our Savior's Love," and "I Believe in Christ" that the father had put together.
I was amazed not only at the arrangement but the beauty of the voices of the singers. The spirit was so strong and our kids barely made a peep as they listened to the inspiring music. It was a peaceful moment, one I wish I could hit repeat on whenever I wanted.
And then during primary Kade gave his first talk! I was expecting him to get up to the pulpit, get nervous and pull a fit to sit back down. Boy did I ever underestimate him! He got right up there and repeated everything I said to him no problem! I was so proud of him!
We had such a great Sunday!

My Birthday Man

We had a great day celebrating Brad's birthday and the last day of Spring Break! We had German pancakes for breakfast and then went and explored the Library in downtown Indy. It was very cool. I loved all the neat architecture.
Tonight we had some friends over for dessert and watched Skyfall. I love James Bond movies.
But I especially loved being with My Man today and all week. I'm so sad that Spring Break is over. It is pure HEAVEN when he has so much time to be with us. Kade lights up whenever he knows that Dad doesn't have to school, or that Dad doesn't have to study and he can play games with him. I heard Kade say many times this week, "Dad, you're my favorite!"
He is my favorite too. He is such a good Dad to Kade and Tenley and such a good husband to me. We are so lucky to have him.
Now the countdown begins to the end of this semester and the end of his second year of Dental School!
Woot Woot! Almost halfway done!

Fancy Dates

Tonight Brad and I went out to a nice restaurant with some friends to celebrate him and his friend passing boards. It was so yummy and so fun! Brad has been wanting to eat at St. Elmo Steakhouse since we moved here to Indianapolis. We've heard such great things about it and it did not disappoint!

...

The rest of our trip down to Kentucky was great! We went and explored Mammoth Cave a little bit and we all loved it! We went on a 2 mile, 2 hour tour and Kade was happy and loving it the whole time. He is an adventurer! Tenley ended up falling asleep near the end of the tour but she loved looking around at the big cave while she was awake. Here are the pictures from our trip:

We wore her out!

Kade loved this wiggle path. He kept saying, "This is a cool maze, huh?!"

Safety

I'm so grateful that we made it safely home tonight after our fun trip. We had a moment on the freeway that made us realize how quickly things can go wrong and an accident can happen.
An older woman came inches away from hitting us and just about ran us off the road when she tried to change lanes. It was a scary moment, but luckily no harm was done to either of us.
It is so nice to be home and have the kids sleeping safely in their beds!

Getaways

Today has been such a great day!
We left home early this morning to drive to Louisville to meet some friends at the Temple. We were able to go in and work with some friends while our other friends watched our cute kids for us.
We have such great friends and we loved spending time with them at the Temple!
Afterward we drove to our hotel and took the kids swimming! Luckily there is an indoor pool here because it is freezing outside!
Kade LOVED swimming. His favorite thing to do was jump into the pool to Brad. Tenley loved splashing around at first too, but then she wouldn't stop crying and clinging to me so we sat back, snuggled, and watched the boys have all the fun. I can't wait to post all the cute pictures.
We found a yummy pizza buffet restaurant to eat at for dinner, then the kids and I cuddled on the huge king sized bed and watched Disney Junior, and now they are peacefully asleep in their beds.
I love my kids so much. They are my world. And getaways like this as a family are my most treasured memories.
I'm looking forward to creating more memories tomorrow!
