Tenley has the best teacher this year. Mr. Faulk is quickly becoming my favorite teacher of all time and it's only been a week! We used to aske the kids during dinner what they learned at school and they usually don't have much to say which can be disappointing. But this year right when I pick Tenley up from school, she talks and talks and talks about the new history story she learned. Today she told me all about Marco Polo. I love the excitement she has for history and I love hearing all that she has learned. She is going to have a great year!

Ice Cream
Kade had to have his upper molars extracted this morning. They’ve been really sensitive to sweets so after a lot of thought, it seemed best to have them pulled. They did put Kade under for the surgery but everything went great. He acted a little funny afterward as he was waking up. He kept asking me what had happened and who gave him ice cream.
I would tell him and then he’d always say, “Oh that was nice.” He got a lot of rest today. Ice cream was his favorite thing to eat. Luke ran to the store with me to buy a lot of pudding too. And he used his puppy dog eyes to try and get a treat for himself. He’s tricky!

My Plus One
Ever since I was put into the Relief Society presidency in June, each week has been filled with a day of visits or a day of meetings. And since school is back in and my babysitters aren’t here anymore, Luke got to join us on our visits today. He was actually really good, although I did have to bribe him with a treat. Hopefully he gets the hang of it or we find an alternative plan but luckily today went well! I love getting to meet and visit with more people in our church community. They are all so amazing.

Sourdough Bread
My amazing talented friend makes sourdough bread and I got to buy some from her today. It is so delicious! I’ve made sourdough bread a few times and I definitely need more practice to get it this amazing!
And then Kade made us sourdough huckleberry pancakes for breakfast. It was homework for his class at school. And then we got to eat at the church for a BBQ. So I didn’t have to cook at all today which was pretty nice!

Birthday Dinners
We have spread out Kade’s birthday celebrations pretty far this year. We finally took him out for dinner tonight. He chose a burger place with fancy shakes. It was a lot of food and we were all so full afterwards! But he enjoyed it.
School seems to be going well for everyone. I hope they all continue to like it! It was weird to have Brad home while the kids were at school, but we enjoyed a walk this morning and got some projects done at home.

Our Garden
Our garden did pretty well this year! We’ve been enjoying it a lot. Luke has been helping me harvest these past few days. We had a lot of beans and peas with our dinner last night and tonight we made our salad all with vegetables from the garden and we grilled our corn on the cob! That was a new and fun addition to the garden this year. We still have a lot to learn and to change for the garden for next year, but it’s been good.
Also we’ve had a lot of crazy rainstorms this week. Last night the thunder was so loud that it woke me up. It felt like it was shaking the whole house. Luckily the kids all slept through it.

The First Day of School
I actually don’t know how grateful I am for the first day of school either, but all the kids had a good day so I’m grateful for that! And Luke and I stayed busy enough so the day went by quickly and we didn’t miss the other kids too much. Kade really seemed to enjoy middle school and was happy to see his friends. Tenley and Ryder both love their teachers and had fun seeing friends again. And Luke played with a lot of legos all day. He’s such a cute little man and I’m glad he’s still my little buddy!

The Last Day of Summer
I actually don’t know how grateful I am for the last day of summer. I love the summer time and I love having my kids home. Sending them back to school tomorrow will be hard for me. But we made the best of today.
They all came with me to Luke’s ninja class and then I picked them up McDonalds for lunch. This afternoon Tenley and Ryder got to go meet their teachers and see their classroom. They have a new playground at school so they’re pretty excited for tomorrow!
Brad gave them all a father’s blessing and I prayed hard for my sweet kids. I hope they all have a really great year at school!

Ninja Class
Most of us have been sick and throwing up. I’m not sure what happened but we caught some sort of bug! It’s been pretty miserable but Ryder was feeling healthy at least so he got to go to his ninja class. It was nice to get out and I’m glad he was able to do something productive!

Kade
Kade turned 13 years old today! I can’t believe we have a teenager. He is the best teenager so far though. 😉 We love his helpful, obedient personality and his desire to be a good person. He’s pretty amazing!

Two Top
We 4 wheeled up to Two Top today. Brad has snowmobiled up there a lot so I think he enjoyed seeing it in the summer season. The original plan was for Luke and I to ride in the razor with Lesa but the razor was too wide to take on the trail so we had to double up on the ATV machines and Luke and I got to go with Brad which was actually a lot of fun! It was such a beautiful trail and the view was amazing! Lesa did take Luke and Ryder on some razor rides this evening and we got to eat some s’mores. We’ve had such a great weekend with the Murdocks!

Big Springs
Floating Big Spings has been on my bucket list for a while now and we got to do it today! It was gorgeous! It was shallow at first so we had to pull the raft along for a bit but after that it was perfect. The weather was nice and we saw a moose! We actually saw a moose in the Murdock’s backyard this morning too! It was very cool.
After the float we had dinner at Big Judds. They have plate size burgers that we all shared as a family. It was yummy!

Island Park
We drove to Island Park this afternoon to spend time with the Murdocks. The kids played in the creek for a bit and then played games with their cousins in the evening. We’re excited to have a fun weekend in the mountains!
