We did have a good Sunday though. Ryder taught us about pride and humility. We talked about how the astronauts kept referring to the fact that it was a team effort to get them into space. Life is a team effort. We all need each other. We need to support and recognize support from each other.

SpaceX
Yesterday we were able to see the first rocket launch from US soil in nine years. Thanks to NASA and SpaceX we are able to send astronauts back in to space again. It has been really fun to watch the journey. Today we saw the astronauts that left yesterday dock at the international space station. Kade was most intrigued and keeps telling us he’d like to go to space someday. It was welcome good news as our nation is not such a happy place right now. Politics and race, fighting and misunderstandings are so prevalent. Now more than ever I just want world peace. Can’t we all somehow get along?

Park Picnics
Brad went fishing on the Missouri all day so the kids and I watched my niece Erin get married via Zoom, then we picked up lunch and headed to the park for a picnic. It was a nice day but almost too hot! Luke wanted to chase the geese around the whole time and Ryder didn’t want to leave the playground. We had fun.
When we got home, Tenley and Ryder got in their swimsuits and played in the hose outside to cool off.
Then we got to play with friends tonight! The adults hung out while the kids played. It was a great day.

Golf
Brad and Kade were able to go golfing today on this beautiful afternoon. Brad loves to have a son old enough to golf with and Ryder can’t wait to be old enough to go!

Epic Tents
Ryder’s favorite word as of late seems to be epic. He uses it any times something is really, really cool. Today I made him an ‘epic’ tent upstairs that we used for our reading lesson. He loved it! And Luke destroyed it. But it was fun while it lasted.
We enjoyed the beautiful weather with a walk to the park today. I love afternoons in the sunshine with my kids.

Early Summer
My kids had me laughing, smiling and pulling my hair out today. It really is great to have them all home even when there are crazy moments.
Ryder finished his huge preschool work book today that we’ve been working on all year! He loved that book so it was easy for him to finish. His reading book on the other hand has been a challenge. But since he finished his workbook he and I went and picked out a prize!

My Little Ninja
Ryder went to his last gymnastics class today. He starts his all boys ninja class next week and he can’t wait! It’s been so fun to watch him progress.
Tenley is always so creative. Tonight she even turned her dinner into an art project. She makes me smile.

Newlan Creek Reservoir
We found another beautiful mountain lake today a few hours from our home. The drive was beautiful as well. We drove tight past the ski hill and on further into the mountains. We found a great picnic spot by the lake and ate lunch. Then we all took turns in the kayak. Ryder was trying so hard to learn and do his best at paddling. He enjoyed kayaking with Brad more than with me because “Dad is stronger!” Haha.
Even Luke loved the kayak! Although, while he was playing in it on shore he got too close to the water and fell in. Poor guy. Luckily it was warm enough for him to hang out in his diaper.
It was so warm, calm, and peaceful there with no cell coverage to distract us. I took a nap on the blanket to the sounds of my kids playing. It was the best day. We miss our extended families and traditions, but we enjoyed our Memorial Day making memories together.

At Home Church
Have I mentioned how much I love at home church? It’s so simple, so easy, so carefree. I love the easy going morning as opposed to rushing out of the house. I love teaching my kids and hearing their thoughts as we learn together. I love the quiet, intimate sacrament meeting we have together without having to worry our little two year old is bugging someone else who is trying to feel the spirit. I just love it. There are things I miss about going to church with our ward, but I know that this special at home family church time is temporary and may not happen again so I’m loving it even more. Tenley taught us about the importance of keeping a record and we read through some of our blog books. I love all the memories that we have stored away.
After church we planted our garden! It is beautiful and I forgot to take a picture so I will have to add it tomorrow.

Belt Creek
We found a new hike to Belt Creek today. We had to drive for eight miles on a pretty rough and muddy dirt road, but it was worth it. It was a beautiful four mile hike which we’ve found is a good distance for Ryder. When we made it to the Creek we found a fire pit. Tenley wanted to try and make a fire without a match. Brad taught her all the possible ways, but with all the wet bark we were unable to actually get one started. She is determined to try again so next time we’ll make sure to have a pocket knife, or better yet, flint and steel! She is an adventurous little girl and wants a pocket knife of her own now!
We loved getting out of the house and exploring together.

The Plant Store
We went to the plant store to pick up seeds and vegetables to plant in our garden! Gardening is a new adventure for me and the kids so we will see how this goes. But we are excited! Especially the kids.

Thursday
Today was the last day of packet work! We are all so happy about that! There are still two weeks left of school but I think it will be much more low key.
It was really windy today but the kids still got out to play. They said the wind made jumping on the tramp extra fun! 😂
Thursday was much mote special today knowing that Brad would be home early And it was his last work day of the week AND we have a longer weekend. Yay!

Gift Cards
Kade and Tenley both received gift cards to Barnes and Noble for practicing their recital songs 100 times each. We decided to take a trip to the book store so they could pick something out. Kade chose a new book and Tenley chose a new stuffed animal. And Ryder used some of his money for a LEGO set. That’s pretty indicative of their passions tight now. It was nice to get out. Phase 2 or reopening for our state will begin June 1st.

Gymnastics
Ryder’s gymnastics class opened again! He was so excited to go back and he had so much fun. He really wanted to run up the warped wall and he was able to! It was so nice to have some normalcy in our lives.
Also Tenley and Ryder have been writing a song together on the piano. So adorable!

Kade’s Kave
Brad headed back to work today which made me feel like our countdown of the COVID virus should end. Things are definitely not back to ‘normal’ and at this point I’m pretty sure the life we had before will never fully return. But I can’t tell you how grateful I am that we had the last 63 days the way we did. There were scary, uncertain and hard times but there were wonderful, growing and changing times as well. Brad built us pantry shelves, storage room shelves, and renovated his whole office! (I think he wins for most productive!) The kids learned how to work on their own at home without teachers. They also learned how to better be patient and kind with each other. I learned that schedules and deadline aren’t as necessary as sitting down and spending time with those you love. We made wonderful memories with each other as we explored more of Montana in the past two months than we have in the last three years. It’s truly been a unique and special couple of months that I’m a little bit sad to see end. But responsibilities are necessary I suppose.
Brad’s first day back went pretty well. They still have some unpacking to do but they’re getting there!
Tenley and Ryder went to a friends house to play so Kade, Luke and I had some quality time to ourselves. We went for a walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather then I helped Kade organize his closet so he could turn it into a cave. The kids all slept in it together tonight. I can’t believe he has a closet that big! And I often go back and forth about allowing the kids to have sleepovers all the time, but I hope they look back on these times with fond memories.

Piano Recitals
Day 63
We had a good Sunday morning with Grandpa and Grandma Judy. Kade taught our lesson. Brad had to leave for a little bit for a baptism in our ward. And our kids had a real, live, piano recital! Our teacher separated us into small groups and made sure to clean the keys between each person. It was so mice to be out at a real recital! The kids did a wonderful job! Tenley played Minuet in G and Colors in the Wind and Kade played Minuet in G and The Superman Theme.
Luke did not want to join the picture 😂

Visitors and Mindful Music
Day 62
We had a fun day with Grandpa and Grandma Judy here! Brad and his Dad spent a lot of the time at the office getting things set up and ready for next week. Brad has really appreciated his help. We got Chinese takeout and spent some time outside in the beautiful weather. We introduced the grandparents to Virtual Reality which was entertaining for all of us. And Luke cuddled with Judy while they watched Frozen 2 which she loved.
I was also able to participate in a live Facebook event with the Mindful Music Association. I shared one of my new original songs, met some amazing musicians, and made some new friends. It was a great evening for me.

Luke
Day 61
Our little Luke turned 2 years old today! I don’t think he realized it was such a special day for him but I’m pretty sure he enjoyed all of the attention. Grandpa George and Grandma Judy arrived this afternoon to visit for a few days. It added some extra fun to the day. We opened presents after dinner. My parents got Luke and Olaf stuffed animal which he was so excited about! I made Luke a blanket. Brad’s Dad and Judy got him some big trucks and sweet Tenley made him card. We had cake and ice cream for dessert which Luke loved. It was a good day and we love our little Luke.
