Nice People

Brad's first day at his new office went well! His staff is amazing. They are all so nice. The kids and I met most of them today and I'm just so thankful for all of them and how much they help out Brad. They welcomed Brad with a huge basket of goodies from Great Harvest. We've been munching on it all evening and it's delicious!

Sunday Dinner

I've been missing our grill these past several weeks because I really love grilling. So for dinner tonight we had some grilled chicken. It was so delicious! It was fun to have our first Sunday dinner in our new home. I'm excited to make some more progress on unpacking and decorating this week!

HOME

The past few days have been really busy and really exhausting, but we're finally in our new house! It's crazy to think that we actually own a house. We all love it so much and we're so excited to be home. There's a lot of work left to do and a lot of furniture we'll need to buy, but we'll get there.

We got moving help last night at 5 PM so we were all up pretty late, but at 9:30 before we put the kids to bed we ate some cake that was shaped like our house that our agents gave us. We had to share a plastic spoon and eat it all from the same plate. It was a good memory.

Today the kids were SOOO helpful! Brad put the boxes at the top of the stairs that needed to be taken down and Kade and Tenley pushed them all down and into the correct rooms. I was so impressed! Some of the boxes were really heavy too! I'm so grateful for them and their help. Afterward Kade spent a lot of time riding his bike up and down our street. He's so happy to finally have his bike back again!

Great Falls!

We made it to Great Falls today and it feels so good to be here. We'll be in a hotel for a few nights, but then we'll get to move into our new house. I'm so excited!
Brad went into his new office when we arrived to meet some of the employees that he hasn't met yet and get caught up on a few things. The kids and I played at the pool for a few hours and then we all met up to have a picnic at the park by the river. It was a beautiful night and I feel so happy :)

The Murdock's Home

It's been a stressful two weeks as we've tried to secure a home, but being here at the Murdock's home and house sitting for them has made it a lot more tolerable. The kids have never been bored because there is so much to do! So many new toys, game tables, the Wii and Xbox, and a trampoline and a playground in the backyard! Just being in such a comfortable homey place where we can all spread out and have our own rooms has been amazing. We've also needed their computer, printer, and fax machine a lot so that has been so helpful as well.
We finally signed the closing documents today so we're headed "home" tomorrow! It's actually kind of hard to leave this temporary home, but we're excited for what's ahead!

Funny story- before we received the closing documents today we were still unaware if we'd be able to buy the home so we were pretty stressed and frustrated and our fuses were short. We had to print a picture of Brad to be displayed at his new office for his new patients to see so we ordered a copy of the print he had received from dental school (a very nice and professional picture) online at Walmart and went to pick it up. When Brad asked for his photo the lady went to get it and then asked for the photo copyright which we don't have. She asked who took the picture and Brad said his dental school did. She asked again for the copyright. He looked her in the eye and said he gave the school $400,000 for the picture. She was caught off guard and retreated. She saw the serious look and laughed off the awkwardness for fear Brad would blast her again. Then she let us leave with the photo. Bless her heart.

Sunday

Today was so refreshing. We listened to beautiful church music all morning, watched scripture movies, played the piano, and enjoyed a wonderful sacrament meeting. A young man gave his farewell talk before he left on his mission and he did such a great job. It was such an uplifting message. I love the quote he shared from Marvin J. Ashton: "True happiness is not made in getting something. True happiness is becoming something." I'm excited to study the talk he took the quote from.
When we got home from church, Ryder went down for a nap and Brad took Kade and Tenley to watch the Blue Angels again so I was able to have some quiet time to myself! I wrote in my journal, listened to my favorite piano music, and read a talk my niece sent me from her mission on the character of Christ. It was so good!
After dinner we face-timed my family, made popcorn, and watched Shark Week (Kade is soooo excited for shark week!).
I needed a day like today so badly. I feel like I can tackle whatever this new week has to give me now! We're going to be OK. :)

The Blue Angels

The Blue Angels are in Idaho Falls this weekend! They are based out of Florida and Brad was able to see them practice all of the time while he lived there. He even met the pilots and got their autographs. So he was excited that we were here in town and able to watch them fly. We found a nice shady spot at the park and spent all day watching the air show and then the Blue Angels. One of my favorite summer activities is lying on a blanket at the park. It may sound boring, but today was heavenly. And the Blue Angels are amazing! It was so fun to see their air show.
We went back to the fun park after the show and then on a bike ride around the falls again. Then to dinner. It was such a great family day.

On a personal note I feel like I've been able to let some of the stress and fear of not getting into our home soon, or maybe even ever, go away. I've realized that I can't sit and contemplate on our sorry plot in life all day, but I can change my focus to other more positive things and choose happiness! Today I was able to forget the miserable and look at the wonderful! Positive thoughts have a huge affect on our attitude. Our situation hasn't changed at all, but I'm left feeling so happy and grateful tonight.

Playing with Ryder, Bike Rides at Sunset

Since I have so much free time these days, beside the sitting around and stressing that has taken over my life, I've had a lot of time to play with the kids which is a great distraction! Ryder and I had a lot of fun hanging out in the backyard today. He such an adventurous little buddy!

After dinner we went on a bike ride around the falls and through Freeman Park. It was beautiful! We also found a fun park for the kids to play at near the Temple and the River. Idaho Falls is a pretty city!

Splash Pads

To deal with the crazy heat today, we took the kids on a bike ride to a splash pad. There was also another frisbee golf course there that Brad and Kade played. It'd Kade's new favorite thing to do! And Brad enjoys it too. While we there we caught the free lunch program too by coincidence and ran into an old friend from Indiana! Pretty crazy and fun to catch up!
On the way home we had to ride along a busy road for a bit and for some reason when we turned to get on this busy road Kade went right out into the street instead of staying on the sidewalk. Brad and I always keep Kade between the two of us, Brad leads and I stay behind Kade. We were pretty clear with Kade on this particular crazy ride that he needed to stay behind Dad and always do what he did. He later said that he thought Dad had gone out into the street so he was just doing the same. By some miracle no cars happened to be driving in the road at that time and my screaming finally got Kade back up onto the safety of the sidewalk before any cars came near us. There's nothing like a close call like that to put things into perspective. Things may be hard and stressful right now, but I'm so grateful that my husband and kids are healthy and safe.

Waterfalls

We have visited Idaho Falls a lot, but we've never been to the falls downtown. We took the kids to see them today and they are beautiful! There's a great bike path around them that Kade's dying to bike on now. There was also a huge park nearby with an 18 hole frisbee golf course that Brad and Kade played while Tenley, Ryder and I played on the playground, in the trees, and ran through sprinklers. Such a good day!
