Thanksgiving weekend was the best! We were able to drive just 4 hours to be with family! Since most of our family lives so far away I feel really lucky that we had family just a drive away to be with for Thanksgiving. My kids love their cousins and I love my in-laws. Thanksgiving dinner was delicious! Shopping with the girls was so much fun! And just being together was so refreshing!
Brad had some of the day off so we picked him up to take him to Jolly Days at the museum with us. We had a blast racing down the slide, ice skating, and baking treats together.
I get to visit teach one of the most inspiring women I know, Andrea. She has been battling a cancer disease for a long time that has run in her family. Here is a link to a video about her mom that explains it better than I can:
I actually got to meet her sweet mom last week when I took her family dinner last week. She was so sweet and happy and positive and with all that she's been through in life, that is impressive! She thanked me for dinner and even gave me a hug. Now I know where Andrea gets her ever positive attitude from.
The other day she posted this amazing song that reminds me of her every time I hear it now. It inspires me to be grateful even when life is hard and to take the bad things from life and make them sweet!
I'm so grateful for Andrea and for her example and friendship!
It has been freezing or below freezing all week, but today warmed up to about 45 degrees so we decided to go enjoy it at the park! We were the only ones there! It was fun to play soccer, tag, and hide and seek.
Brad and I were able to go out on a date tonight to celebrate our 9 year anniversary and the fact that he passed boards! I've been looking forward to this night for a while. We went to yummy steak restaurant and then saw a cool new movie on the IMAX screen. It was a fun night for us and for the kids as well! They were excited to hang out with their babysitters and watch a movie and make pizzas.
For story time at the library today they had a special live animal show. It was really cool! The lady asked for volunteers for almost every animal that she pulled out and Tenley, being the brave girl that she is, was eager and willing to volunteer to see the tarantula! It scared me, but I'm glad she's so brave! Kade was able to hold the alligator which he loved! It was a fun morning.
Tonight Tenley and I got to have a mommy daughter date to Young Women in Excellence. It was so fun to have a night out with her and it was really neat to learn more about all of the amazing young women in our ward!
I had the best day with my kids today. Normally I have a bad habit of leaving the house too much so I've been trying to stay home more often to do fun things with the kids here. So today after school we went and played in the snow! Kade was so excited yesterday to see the snow falling and he couldn't wait to play in it today. They made snow angels, and had a snowball fight with each other. I was freezing but they had a blast! I wonder if they make maternity snow pants...
After lunch they helped me make some sugar cookies for our family home evening treat, and then we made some crafts together.
For family home evening we made our own little personal pizzas and learned about prophets. It was the best day.
Whenever I leave for the night the kids get to have a boy party with Brad, but since he was the one that left us tonight they got to have a girl party with me! We watched a movie and ate lots of Halloween candy :) I had a blast cuddling with them!
I've been preparing a little bit for the arrival of our little boy. I've gotten out Kade's old baby clothes and washed them and I can't believe how tiny this little boy will be! I can't wait to hold him!
Tonight Brad finally grilled us the salmon he caught in Lake Michigan last month. It's taken so long because he's been so busy with boards, and I really have no idea how to cook fish well, but it was worth the wait! It was really delicious!
