We bought pumpkins at the Orchard last week and were able to paint them today. The kids were very creative and Kade did his all on his own! He even came up with the idea of a ghost pumpkin. He really loves Halloween!
Tonight we were able to go out with Brad for a little date because he's going on a long fishing trip this week. We had a fun night out and Kade loved helping him get gas in the car and wash the windows. It was cute!
My kids begged me to take them to Hummel Park and since it was such great weather I gave in! We pretty much had the park to ourselves. We really enjoyed playing hide n go seek, racing down the slide, and having a picnic.
I was able to watch the General Women's Meeting at the church with some friends last night. We had some yummy milk and cookies first and then went in to the chapel to watch the broadcast. All of the speakers were amazing, but I particularly enjoyed President Uchtdorf's talk.My favorite line that I took from him was to "live the gospel JOYFULLY." I love that! The more I focus on being joyful about each and every little thing I'm asked to do, the happier I will be and the more my example will affect others. I'm so grateful for Prophets and Apostles in our day and I so look forward to hearing more of them speak this weekend!
Kade had been learning to read by sounding out the word and today he decided to write a note to his dad all by himself by sounding it out and writing the letter he thought it should be. It was adorable!
A trip to the museum equals happiness! Disneyland may be the happiest place on earth, but the Children's Museum is the happiest place in Indianapolis, especially when it isn't crowded at all. I loved today!
We has so much fun at the orchard today with our friends! We played at the playground, ate lunch by the pond, picked apples, bought pumpkins, and enjoyed a delicious cider slush drink. What a perfect way to celebrate the beginning of fall!
Today was Kade's last day for soccer practice. I have loved having him in sports because I see how much he loves to learn and be active and make new friends. I will miss it now that it is over. For the last half of practice the parents were able to scrimmage with the team. It was so much fun to play a little game with him and his teammates!
Kade was begging me to do something fun today and he came up with the wonderful idea of going hiking at Southwestway park. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun walking the trails.
Tonight we learned about faith and testimonies for family home evening and how we can help them grow. At the end we were each able to bear our testimony to each other. I loved hearing Kade and Tenley testimonies in their sweet little voice. They were so happy and willing to share it!
Today Brad was able to participate in the IUPUI Regatta for his 4th and final year. 150 teams race and their 2nd year they got 2nd place, last year they got 1st place with a record time of 7:10, and this year they won again beating their last time with a new record of 6:57! It was an exciting and bittersweet day but we were so excited he ended it well!
Sometimes when my willpower conquers my hearts desire to stay in my warm bed early in the morning, I get up before everyone else for a quick workout. Today was one of those days and it was nice to watch the sunrise while I worked out on our elliptical machine and listen to some good music on Pandora. Quiet time like that is so refreshing and so needed.
One of my favorite songs came on this morning: What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.
I couldn't stop thinking of the words in the song "I hear babies cry, I watch them grow...,"today. That pretty much sums up my days, but they are great days! The crying and fighting gets old and frustrating, but watching them grow is one of the most amazing experiences I could ask for in life.
I have loved seeing Kade progress as we've done school together! I've watched and helped him learn to count to 100 (which he did all by himself today!), read "Sam is mad at me," write the number 3 much better than before, and so many other things. Doing school with Tenley and him is my favorite part of the day. They are excited to learn and I am excited to watch them grow.
We had fun exploring a new park today! The slide was awesome and Tenley had no fear going doing the first time, but then realized how fast she went and wasn't too excited to do it again. We got to eat lunch by a beautiful little pond in the forest and enjoyed the amazing weather! It was a great morning!
We had a lazy day today spending most of it inside and Tenley was in her pajamas basically the whole time! We did venture out for a little walk and the kids had fun racing their cars down the hill.
After Kade's chilly soccer game this morning we went downtown to the canal so Brad could practice canoeing for his big race next weekend. We ended up finding a fun little carnival afterward as well and we had a lot of fun playing there all afternoon!
The kids and I got to meet Brad downtown for lunch at the butterfly gardens. We had a lot of fun and even played hide and seek for a little but while we were there.
Kade had another fun game today, although he didn't score this time. Luckily it was raining a little bit which is so much more enjoyable than the heat and humidity! It was a fun morning!
